Tri-part composition with Dome of the Rock and Ka’ba

Split canvas with legs and feet
This composition, by Mahoud Ahmad, is split into dual components with a bifurcating line separating the two parts down the middle of the canvas. Both halves portray an assortment of legs, from the knee down, and feet. The component to the right is rather benign being composed of a multitude of detached mannequin legs displaying various colors of stockings; whereas to the left, a pile of discolored fleshy legs creates more baleful undertones.

Split canvas with pale red color scheme
In this bifurcated canvas, Mahoud Ahmad has rendered dual representations that share fundamental formal elements. The color tonalities of each are most obviously similar being of pale reds and browns. Also shared is the presence of repetitive organic elliptical forms. The composition to the right is a representation of a cluster of oval shapes hanging from tendril off a main stem, while the opposite side is less obvious in its representational form.

Boy sitting in front of a cigarette stand
In this simple scene, Mahoud Ahmad has rendered the form of a young boy sitting rather awkwardly in front of a stand containing various brands of cigarettes. The young figure’s expression is striking with his brow furrowed, lips tightly pursed, and chin curled in a quiver. Two used cigarette butts litter the foreground while the background remains non-descript, soft square shapes to the right hinting at a brick structure.

Waterscape in neutral tones with sleeping female
This painting, by Mahoud Ahmad, is composed of a mixture of flesh tonalities as the off-whites, beiges, and pale yellows represent the entirety of the color scheme. The sleeping nude female takes up almost the sum of the canvas lying vertically across the watery ground plane. A man stands to the right of the composition wearing nothing but rolled up trousers and leans against a tall dowel as he wads through the water in a state of half-sleep.
