Still life with guitar, lamp and brushes.

The oil on canvas by Khalid Al-Kassab which depicts a still life is reminiscent of modernist still life paintings being produced contemporaneously in Europe in the early to mid 20th century. The rich saturated colors, the composition and the single light source in the work all create a pleasing image on which to gaze upon. The items in the painting, that of a guitar, an oil lamp, paint brushes, a tea kettle, and a small bench of stool on which the items are delicately places a top a brocade weaving all create the rich textural makeup of the painting.
