Subject
Tent structures against a textured background
Description
Unlike Kahlid al-Rahal’s fully abstracted works, here the viewer is presented with stylized yet identifiable tent structures. Various fabric patterns are represented surrounding the left-hand tent enclosure while the smaller tent is left open. Desert living is seemingly implied by the ambiguity of the background swirling with sandy tonalities.
The accoutrements of wilderness life are also present: the makeshift kitchen with wares, that night’s dinner hanging furtively from a tent wire, and the lantern lit for the oncoming darkness.
