Animal perched on stone forms in ambiguous background

This composition, by Nattik Aziz, is vertical in orientation with the representational figures portrayed in the lower third of the canvas. The figure of an animal with penetrating yellow eyes sits atop a carpet decorated with an intricate border pattern. The animal seems to be perched at the convergence of two stone structures. Despite the detail of the foreground, the background is ambiguous with opaque browns merging into brighter red and yellow tonalities.
