Landscape with river and seated men

In this painting, al-Rassam has depicted the landscape with a more painterly quality. Although the brushstrokes are more apparent, the clarity of detail is still present as each element of the landscape is fully rendered. The way al-Rassam has framed the scene gives the impression that the viewer has happened upon a group of men enjoying a rest listening to the rushing waters of the river and the rustling of the wind in the trees.

Location: Currently unknown. From the collection of the Iraqi Museum of Modern Art (the former Saddam Center for the Arts)--included on the vcds from 2002 by Mukhalad al-Mukhtar.

Hard copies purchased from the photographer of the museum in 2004.
