Abstraction with overlapping starburst patterns

The composition of this painting by Faraj Abbu resembles an abstracted coy pond if viewed from above. The blues and greens give a sense of the natural setting. While the plant-like starbursts create the underwater environment with their undulating extensions. The three fish-like pod shapes float effortlessly amongst the abstracted flora with their diamond-patterned filler resembling scaly skin. The central starburst adds a splash of color, which serves to emphasize, through contrast, the placidity of that which surrounds it.
