The setting for this painting, by Mahoud Ahmad, is ambiguous as the figures float in a greenish haze that comprises the background of the composition. In the extreme left foreground, a man, rendered in distinct line, gazes out of the frame. A thick application of dark green paint obscures the second figure who makes a gesture of seeming distress; a diving white dove appears above this murky figure.
