Subject
Abstracted Composition with Central Pale Face
Description
The most striking characteristic of this work is the exaggerated, almost grotesque, visage that holds a central position of the composition. Resting on a thin pillar, the mask-like face holds an amorphous shape with eyes, nose, and mouth floating upon it without structure. Within the background of black, orange, and white emerge lines that traverse the picture plane in a chaotic pattern only to be submerged again in the black band at the left of the canvas.
