Title
Title not known (Al-Alousy 1)
Subject
Series of archways with calligraphic script
Description
The sandy tones of this composition are interrupted by the intermittent use of teal creating a rustic quality to the piece. The varied use of Arabic script within this composition attests to the flexible nature of the Arabic letter. Here Al-Alousy has manipulated the script into architectural forms and decoration creating the various archways that make up the composition. Al-Alousy also uses traditional Islamic abstractions with the triangular patterning found in two of the archways.
