In this simple scene, Mahoud Ahmad has rendered the form of a young boy sitting rather awkwardly in front of a stand containing various brands of cigarettes. The young figure’s expression is striking with his brow furrowed, lips tightly pursed, and chin curled in a quiver. Two used cigarette butts litter the foreground while the background remains non-descript, soft square shapes to the right hinting at a brick structure.
